It was breathtaking. From the outside you wouldn't know the treasures that are awaiting you. I took the tour of the cellars and it was wonderful . There was a lady and gentleman that was in charge of giving the history and they were beyond lovely. I believe they were what made our trip there so enjoyable. They made us feel like we were part of the experience of the castle and not just visiting it. So happy we went and will come again.
The Grounds were very interesting to stroll around. The garden occupies the steepest flank of the grounds. So there is a lot of up and down climbing of trails or steps. However the gardens are a good reason to go. The castle sits high on a hill commanding a large area of the countryside. The interior of the castle wasn't the reason for visiting which we didn't do except to go to the café which was adequate for snacking and tea. There was an interesting rest stop on the high garden path which had a good view, a seat and shade for a grand view while taking in the distance. From below near the far end of the grounds were the servants quarters from which there was also a nice view across the vale, provided you had a room on the right side of the building.
